There were certainly a few tense moments down the stretch, but the end result was what Providence College sought Tuesday night at Prudential Center.
A second conference road victory was secured when Isaiah Coleman missed a 60-footer at the buzzer. The Friars escaped with a 69-67 win over Seton Hall, adding to an overtime triumph at DePaul more than a month ago.
Corey Floyd Jr., Jabri Abdur-Rahim and Jayden Pierre made enough free throws inside the final 17.8 seconds to push Providence over the line. Christ Essandoko rimmed out a pair with 2.0 seconds left, and Coleman’s potential winning runner from beyond midcourt bounced away.

“Glad our guys found a way to win,” Providence coach Kim English said. “Credit to Seton Hall. Very, very tough team. They’ve faced a lot of adversity this season.”
Rich Barron’s floater off the glass with 31.7 seconds left gave the Friars a 65-61 edge, and Providence executed well enough getting to the line and preventing the Pirates from firing any 3-pointers to cut the gap. Abdur-Rahim’s pair of makes with 10.9 seconds left capped a strong second half, as he netted 10 of his 13 points over the final 20 minutes.
“He’s taking good shots,” English said. “He’s shooting it. We’ve got to get him to be more locked in to what we’re trying to do in our program.”
Coleman had an earlier chance to tie with 3.0 seconds left after an official review at the monitor. Pierre committed a foul that was initially ruled on the floor, but Coleman was deemed in the act of shooting and awarded three free throws in a 69-66 game. His first rimmed out, and an intentional miss on the third came with a Seton Hall lane violation to lose…
