Jimmy Butler won’t be on the court again for the Miami Heat anytime soon.
The Heat suspended Butler indefinitely on Monday afternoon, the team announced. The suspension marks his third with the organization amid his demand for a trade, which has yet to be met.
Butler apparently walked out of their shootaround on Monday morning after learning that the team wasn’t going to start him in their game against the Orlando Magic, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Haywood Highsmith will start in his place on Monday night.
Butler will now be suspended for a minimum of five games, though the team called the suspension indefinite. It’s unclear when Butler will return to the floor for the organization, if at all. The NBA’s trade deadline is set for Thursday, Feb. 6.
This post will be updated with more information shortly.
