MADISON – A loss on the west coast last week did not prevent the Wisconsin men’s basketball team from climbing in the polls.
The Badgers are ranked No. 17 in the Associated Press and USA Today coaches polls. That’s one spot better than last week in the AP ranking and two spots better than where they stood with the coaches last week.
The rankings were released Monday, one day after UW put on an impressive shooting display in an 83-55 victory over Nebraska at the Kohl Center. The Badgers went 17 for 37 (45.9%) from three-point range and tied the third-highest single-game total for threes in program history.
That effort came on the heels of hitting 15 three-pointers in an 85-83 loss at UCLA last Tuesday.
Four other Big Ten teams are ranked this week. Here is the rundown: Michigan State (No 7 AP/No. 7 coaches), Purdue (10/10), Oregon (16/18) and Illinois (18/20).
