With every win closer to 20 that Michigan State basketball gets, the Spartans look closer and closer to solidifying Tom Izzo’s record 27th straight spot in the NCAA tournament.

MSU’s win streak grew to 12 as the Spartans improved to 8-0 in Big Ten play by beating Rutgers, 81-74, on Saturday afternoon in New York. Though it was not in the home arena of the Scarlet Knights, who had the vast majority of the 17,500 fans at Madison Square Garden, it is considered a road victory for the Spartans in the NCAA’s NET rankings that play a large role in the tourney seeding and brackets.
