Illinois basketball had another up-and-down week, but still finds itself firmly in line for an NCAA Tournament berth.
Coach Brad Underwood has Illinois basketball at 14-6 overall and 6-4 in the Big Ten Conference, dropping three spots to No. 20 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll on Monday.

Illinois basketball results last week
Jan. 23: Maryland 91, Illinois 70 — Illinois lost consecutive games for the first time since the final two games of the 2022-23 season, a span of 58 games. Three Illini scored in double-figures: Kasparas Jakucionis (21 points), Dra Gibbs-Lawthorn (15) and Kylan Boswell (14).
Jan. 26: Illinois 83, Northwestern 74 — Illinois got back on track with a big home win over an in-state rival, building a 25-point lead and leading for all but 29 seconds. Illinois put five players into double figures scoring, including 17 for Kylan Boswell, 15 for Morez Johnson Jr., 14 for Ben Humrichous, and 11 each for Jake Davis and Kasparas Jakucionis, the latter adding 10 rebounds for a double-double. The Illini played both games without 7-foot-1 Tomislav Ivisic, who is sidelined indefinitely with mononucleosis.
