WEST LAFAYETTE – Purdue basketball responded to its first disappointing result in a month with its most dominant performance of the season.
Plenty of high marks to go around for the No. 12 Boilermakers’ 91-64 victory over No. 20 Michigan at Mackey Arena.

STARTERS
◼ Braden Smith: 9/10*
This is what you call a tone-setter: Swiping a pass near midcourt on the first possession of the game and taking it in for the layup. No trouble dribbling through the trees for baskets from 6 feet in.

◼ C.J. Cox: 8/10
Dropped a can of gasoline on the already hot start. Forced a tie-up for a turnover on the second possession and soon after turned a steal into a layup. Boiler fans looking into the future at what sort of catalyst he’ll be two years from now.
◼ Fletcher Loyer: 8/10
Probably have Wolverines fans watching from back home chucking their drinks at the TV screen (like with better accuracy then their team, too). Taking hard off-ball fouls and hitting 3s with exactly the right level of smugness is its own sort of talent.
◼ Trey Kaufman-Renn: 8/10
Decided pretty early to barrel right through Michigan’s 7-foot finesse. The corrections it made to account for that opened up other Boilermakers. In his own way an instigator of how this one quickly rolled downhill as much as the guys with bigger stats.

◼ Caleb Furst: 7/10
Michigan’s first half was going bad enough without Furst muscling his way to a couple of offensive boards and snagging a pair of steals.
RESERVES
◼ Raleigh Burgess: 7/10
His season will be defined by his decision-making in those short first-half stretches. This was one of the better recent examples, including the process which led to his 3-pointer.
◼ Myles Colvin: 7/10
Also dropped in an early 3 — likely helping his confidence as well as pushing the team…
