Here are the Northern Kentucky hoopers who’ve joined the 1,000-point club this season

There’s one sure-fire way for basketball players to etch their names into their school’s record books and high-school sports immortality: scoring 1,000 points.

One of high school hoops’ most desirable milestones has been achieved more than a dozen times already in Northern Kentucky this season. The Enquirer brings you a list of players who have surpassed 1,000 career points this season:

Lilly Ashcraft, Pendleton County

Ashcraft, who once scored 71 points in a single half as a freshman, passed the 1,000-point mark on Dec. 9, 2024, scoring 23 points in a 65-60 loss to Mason County. The LadyCats are 7-9 so far this season, and Ashcraft is leading the way with 12.1 points per game.

Spencer Brandenburg, Ludlow

It didn’t take long for Brandenburg to surpass the 1,000-point milestone this season. He did it in the Panthers’ second game of the year, scoring 29 points. This season for Ludlow, which is currently 11-7, Brandenburg is averaging 17.4 points per game.

Jayda Dowell, Bellevue

Jayda beat her sister, Jaylah, both of whom are seniors, to the 1,000-point mark by three days, surpassing it when she scored 10 points in the Tigers’ 51-27 win over Dayton on Dec. 9. This season, she’s averaging 10.7 points per game for the 10-8 Tigers.

Jaylah Dowell, Bellevue

Jaylah couldn’t let her sister bask in the limelight for too long, and she grabbed the spotlight three days after Jayda broke the 1,000-point mark by breaking it herself on Dec. 9, scoring 16 points in Bellevue’s 50-37 win over Dayton.

Caroline Eaglin, Newport Central Catholic

Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds guard Caroline Eaglin, left, will continue her career at Northern Kentucky University next season.

Eaglin has long been past the 1,000-point mark for her career, but she reached 2,000 career points this season on Dec. 26 against Gatlinburg-Pittman from Tennessee. She scored 24 points in the loss and is currently averaging 21.6 points per game for the Thoroughbreds, who are 10-10 so far. Eaglin is committed to continuing her…
