Auburn basketball vs. Tennessee: Prediction, injury updates and how to watch

The biggest test yet of Auburn basketball’s SEC schedule arrives this weekend.

The top-ranked Tigers host No. 6 Tennessee at 7:30 p.m. CT Saturday, for what’ll be their fourth top-10 opponent of the season, and the first top-10 matchup in Neville Arena’s history.

“I have so much respect for coach (Rick) Barnes and that coaching staff,” Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said Thursday. “He’s done an amazing job with that Tennessee team. They play as good a defense as anybody in the country, with their field goal percentage defense and their 3-point defense. They’re one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the country. They really are shooting it really well from 3. They’ve got three or four guys that can really, really knock it down. It’s a tough cover.”

Auburn: It’s likely you’re still wondering if Johni Broome is back. To this point, the answers are trending toward a return but his coach is still unsure of when that will happen.

“We’ll practice this afternoon, and there’s a possibility he’ll try and practice,” Pearl said Thursday. “But we’re not sure. I’ll obviously know more tomorrow and Saturday, so I don’t know whether he’s questionable or possible, but I do know he’s going to try to move around a little bit today. We’ll just have to see how he does.”

Tennessee: The Volunteers have a single injury in sophomore forward JP Estrella. He hasn’t played since Nov….
