FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas basketball point guard Boogie Fland underwent a successful thumb surgery earlier this week and there is no timetable for his return, according to a university press release Wednesday night prior to the Razorbacks’ home game against Georgia.
Fland was originally ruled out for the game against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, and CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported later that night that Fland was would miss the remainder of the season. Arkansas is not ruling out a return for Fland later this year.
After Saturday’s loss to Missouri, Razorbacks coach John Calipari revealed Fland suffered a hand injury in the Hogs’ loss to Florida on Jan. 11. Since then, Arkansas’ starting point guard went 8 for 30 from the field.

Should Fland’s freshman campaign be over, he’ll have finished this season averaging 15.1 points and 5.7 assists per game while shooting 39.1% overall. He led all NCAA freshmen in assist-turnover ratio (3.68) and led the team in scoring six times.
ESPN ranks Fland as the No. 32 prospect for the 2025 NBA Draft.

Arkansas (11-7, 0-5 SEC) is still searching for its first conference victory. Assistant coach Chin Coleman said the Hogs will use multiple players at point guard against Georgia. Billy Richmond and Johnell Davis are options to run the offense, but there’s a more-natural replacement on the roster in D.J. Wagner.
The five-star recruit coming out of high school has primarily played off-the-ball for Calipari this season, where Wagner is averaging 10.1 points, 2.7 assists and 1.9 turnovers per game.
