Wisconsin rockets up USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll after USC win

Wisconsin is among the biggest risers in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.

The team’s 2-0 week, a home win over Ohio State and a road triumph over USC, saw it rise eight spots from ‘receiving votes’ to No. 19 in the latest edition of the poll. That jump is due to the team’s vote total increasing from 29 to 194.

The Badgers are now the fifth-highest-ranked Big Ten team in the coaches poll, slotted behind only Michigan State (No. 8), Purdue (No. 12), Oregon (No. 15) and Illinois (No. 17). They are the poll’s biggest risers along with Texas Tech (up eight spots from ‘receiving votes’ to No. 25) and Missouri (up 14 spots from ‘receiving votes’ to No. 24).

The Badgers are also up to No. 21 in KenPom and No. 25 in the ESPN BPI after another 2-0 week. They continue to improve as the weeks pass, leading to strong on-court results and subsequent ranking improvements.

The team is back on the court on Tuesday night at UCLA. It will look to sweep its two-game Los Angeles, California road trip and continue its march to the top of the Big Ten…
