Vanderbilt basketball is back in the March Madness bracket projections after beating Tennessee.
The Commodores (15-3, 3-2 SEC) had previously fallen out of the brackets after losses to Mississippi State and Missouri.
This week, Vanderbilt had a last-second win against South Carolina before beating the Vols.
It’s possible that both the men’s and women’s teams could qualify for March Madness, which has not happened since 2012.

ESPN: No. 10 seed, last four byes, facing No. 7 seed St. John’s in Cleveland
Washington Post: No. 10 seed, facing No. 7 seed Arizona in Cleveland
CBS: No. 8 seed, facing No. 9 seed St. Johns in Raleigh
Vanderbilt basketball March Madness resume
Vanderbilt is ranked No. 37 in the NET rankings, which is equivalent to approximately a No. 10 seed. The Commodores’ first Quadrant 1 win of the season came on the road at LSU. They are 2-2 against Quadrant 1 and 2-1 against Quadrant 2.
Vanderbilt basketball NCAA tournament history
Vanderbilt had not made the NCAA tournament since 2017, when Bryce Drew was the coach. The Commodores have 15 tournament appearances in their history, five of which came under Kevin Stallings.
Vanderbilt has advanced to the Sweet Sixteen six times and the Elite Eight once, in 1965, but has never made a Final Four.
