A week that included a tough loss to the Kentucky Wildcats, followed by a double-digit win over the LSU Tigers, had Texas A&M men’s basketball ranked 13th in both the USA TODAY Coaches Poll and AP Top 25.
After going undefeated in December to close out nonconference play, A&M has opened up the new year 3-2 against its tough SEC conference foes. The Aggies had a nine-game winning streak snapped by the Alabama Crimson Tide prior to the Kentucky road loss.

It doesn’t get much easier for the Aggies. Next up is a road test against Ole Miss, followed by a trip to Austin to take on the rival Longhorns.
Despite the recent losses, the Aggies are still viewed favorably by poll voters. The Aggies enter the third week of conference play as the best team in the country in offensive rebounding, collecting 16.5 a game. Guard Zhuric Phelps is the leading scorer at 15.6 points per game, taking over after Wade Taylor IV (15.4 ppg) missed three games.
