The UConn men’s basketball team has dropped five spots in the latest USA Today Sports Coaches Poll. The Huskies have also dropped in the Associated Press Top 25 following Saturday’s 68-63 loss against Creighton at Gampel Pavillion.
The Huskies’ 28-game home winning streak has ended. UConn’s loss against the Blue Jays was their first defeat at home since Jan. 25, 2023 against No. 13 Xavier.
The Huskies (13-5), who also dropped five spots in the AP rankings, are ranked No. 19 in the AP Poll and No. 18 in USA Today.
Only two other Big East teams join UConn in this week’s polls. Marquette (15-3), which fell three spots after losing to Xavier on Saturday, is ranked No. 10 in both the AP and USA Today, while St. John’s (16-3), who defeated Georgetown and Seton Hall this week and is off to its best start in Big East play since the 1998-99 season, entered the Top 20 in the AP Poll for the first time this season.
Rick Pitino’s Red Storm moved up five spots to No. 21 in the USA Today Sports Coaches Poll. St. John’s also moved up No. 20 in the AP Poll. It is the Red Storm’s highest ranking since the 2014-15 season when they peaked at No. 15.
UConn travels to Milwaukee to meet Marquette at Fiserv Forum on Feb. 1. The Huskies and St. John’s battle at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 23.
UConn and St. John’s meet at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs on Feb. 7. The Huskies host Marquette at Gampel Pavilion on March 5.
