Texas Tech basketball rejoins national polls after wins over Arizona, Kansas State

For the second time this season, the Texas Tech basketball team has joined the top 25 in the national rankings.

The Red Raiders (13-4, 4-2) moved back into the USA TODAY Sports Coaches poll on Monday, coming in at No. 25. Texas Tech has won four of its last five games, knocking off Kansas State and Arizona last week to return to the polls.

In the Associated Press poll, Texas Tech is just outside the Top 25, earning 104 points and being the equivalent of 26th in the country.

Four of last week’s Top 25 teams fell out of the coaches poll with Tech, No. 19 Wisconsin, No. 21 St. John’s and No. 24 Missouri joining the fray instead of Gonzaga, Utah State, Georgia and Baylor. Texas Tech previously reached No. 24 in the coaches poll back in November.

Five Big 12 teams are in this week’s coaches poll, led by No. 4 Iowa State and No. 5 Houston. Kansas came in at No. 11 and West Virginia moved up to No. 23.

The Red Raiders play at Cincinnati at 6 p.m. CT Tuesday in a game that will air on ESPNU.
