Mizzou’s top shooter is top of the conference’s class this week.

Missouri basketball guard Caleb Grill was named the SEC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday for his performances that helped the Tigers knock off then-No. 5 Florida and Arkansas, taking MU’s winning streak to four games.

A sixth-year senior out of Wichita, Kansas, who spent time at Iowa State and UNLV before transferring to Mizzou in 2023, Grill eclipsed 1,000 career points during the first half Saturday’s win over the Razorbacks. Both Grill and fellow MU guard Tamar Bates achieved the feat in the same half.

Grill put up 17 points with a 7-for-10 mark from the field and a 3-for-5 day from 3-point range as Mizzou knocked off Arkansas.

On Tuesday in Gainesville, Grill was instrumental as the Tigers claimed a top-five win over the Gators. He scored three triples in the space of 45 seconds in the first half, and finished the game with a 6-for-10 night behind the arc in a 22-point performance.

If you’re counting, that means Grill — who currently owns a 49.3% shooting percentage from 3-point range this year — went 9-for-15 (60%) from 3 and scored 39 total points for the week. Once he passes the required tally for 3-pointers made, he’s on track to lead the nation in 3-point shooting.

“At the end of the day, that’s just who he is,” Bates said after the Arkansas game. “I mean, every game that he started or checked into, he’s put his footprint on the game immediately. … He practices harder than anybody I’ve ever seen. I mean, he’s in the gym every day, so it’s not a surprise when he checks in the game and makes the shots that he does and makes the plays that he does defensively, just because that’s the person that he is.”
