LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball has fallen out of the top 10 in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches poll.
Now at No. 11, the Jayhawks (13-4, 4-2 in Big 12) dropped one spot from No. 10 after splitting its last two games last week. Kansas lost at now-No. 4 Iowa State, and won at home against Kansas State. It sets the Jayhawks up for what will be another pivotal week, as they continue to chase another Big 12 regular-season championship.
Kansas’ next game is Wednesday at TCU, which just won at a ranked Baylor team. After that, the Jayhawks will be back at home to face No. 5 Houston on Saturday. Winning both will go a long way toward putting Kansas in an advantageous position to win the league.
Iowa State and Houston are the only two teams in the Big 12 that are ahead of the Jayhawks in the top 25. Other ranked Big 12 teams are No. 23 West Virginia and No. 25 Texas Tech. Capture another couple of victories, and Kansas will find its way back into the top 10.
