The University of Akron Zips and the Ohio Bobcats meet Friday night in a matchup between Mid-American Conference men’s basketball powers at Rhodes Arena.

Akron is 11-5 overall and 4-0 in the MAC. Ohio is 10-6 overall and 4-0 in the MAC.

Akron, Ohio and Miami of Ohio (12-4, 4-0) are tied atop the MAC standings.

Ohio’s Elijah Elliott made a layup and Shereef Mitchell made 1 of 2 free throws and a 3-pointer to cut Akron’s lead to 50-38.
