Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats addresses Derrion Reid’s injury availability

Alabama basketball freshman forward Derrion Reid might not be available for the Crimson Tide’s upcoming game against Kentucky due to an injury.

“Derrion is (still) recovering,” UA coach Nate Oats said Friday. “He’s questionable for (the UK game). If he’s not able to go tomorrow, hopefully next week. I think from everything Clarke (Holter)’s telling me, he’s coming along.”

The Crimson Tide (14-3, 3-1 SEC) will tip off against the Wildcats on Saturday at 11 a.m. (ESPN). Alabama and UK are two of four teams currently tied for third place in the SEC standings with 3-1 records in conference play.

Reid was unavailable for Alabama’s 74-64 home loss to Ole Miss on Tuesday night. In 15 games this season, he’s averaged 17.7 minutes, 8.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. His presence was missed in one of Alabama’s worst performances of the season.
