Alabama basketball still has a chance at adding a five-star prospect to its 2025 recruiting class.

After A.J. Dybantsa announced his commitment to BYU, it was revealed Dybantsa had been signed with the Cougars while the Crimson Tide and other unknowing finalists were still courting the nation’s No. 1 recruit.

Now UA coach Nate Oats and recruiting chief Preston Murphy are up to win small forward Nate Ament, who is a unanimous five-star among the four major recruiting services.

Ament shared his Top 11 with On3’s Jamie Shaw on Wednesday morning. Alabama made the cut, joining a pool of Arkansas, BYU, Duke, Georgetown, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Texas.

Although Tuscaloosa has yet to see Ament for an official visit, Louisville, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Texas have all hosted the 6-foot-9, 185-pound senior from Highland School (Virginia).

247Sports doesn’t list Alabama among his collection of offers, but Ament announced that he was extended an invitation from the Crimson Tide last March.

The signing period for basketball opens April 16 and runs through May 21.

There’s still some rawness to Ament, but his upside lies in the elite ball-handler and shooter he can develop into down the road. Recruiters like him for his athleticism and ability to move well, plus his touch on the ball.

Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class holds three signees in four-stars Amari Allen, London Jemison and Davion Hannah.
