Where Clemson basketball stands in updated March Madness bracket predictions

Clemson basketball is on track to make the NCAA tournament in back-to-back seasons for the first time under coach Brad Brownell despite losing its first conference game last week.

The Tigers (13-4, 5-1 ACC) are tied for second in their conference, but they are not ranked in the Top 25 in the coaches and AP polls. They lost 74-64 to Louisville on the road on Jan. 7 but rebounded to defeat Florida State 77-57 at home on Jan. 11.

Clemson’s next two games are on the road against Georgia Tech (8-9, 2-4) on Tuesday (9 p.m. ET, ACC Network) at McCamish Pavilion and vs. Pitt (12-4, 3-3) on Saturday (noon ET, CW Network) at Petersen Events Center. Tuesday’s game will be a Quadrant 3 game for Clemson, and Saturday’s will be a critical Quad 1 game.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has the Tigers as a No. 9 seed in the South region. He has Clemson facing No. 8 St. John’s. The winner would face the winner of No. 1 Auburn vs. the winner of a First Four game between No. 16 Colgate and No. 16 Howard in the next round.

CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm has Clemson as a No. 9 seed too but in the West region. He projects the Tigers will face No. 8 UCLA with the winner facing the winner of No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 16 Southern in the second round. Alabama defeated Clemson in the Elite Eight last season.
