Arkansas basketball vs. Florida: Scouting report, prediction as Hogs seek first SEC win

For the first time in his career, John Calipari is 0-2 in the SEC, and Arkansas basketball needs to pull off an upset to avoid that unflattering piece of history diving deeper in dismay.

The Razorbacks (11-4, 0-2) host No. 8 Florida on Saturday afternoon (3 p.m., ESPN), hoping to get off-and-running in the conference slate. Arkansas was blown out by No. 1 Tennessee on Saturday and suffered a disappointing home loss to No. 22 Ole Miss on Wednesday night.

The Gators (14-1, 1-1) rebounded after a narrow loss to Kentucky with a 30-point thumping over the Volunteers in their most recent outing. Florida looks like one of the best teams in the league, even impressing in defeat by scoring 100 points inside Rupp Arena.

Can Boogie Fland get going in the SEC for Arkansas basketball?

Fland was terrific during the nonconference slate, but 10 for 35 from the floor and 3 of 17 on 3-pointers through two SEC games.

Fland is still carrying out his point guard duties with eight assists and one turnover in that stretch, but the Hogs need him to be a dynamic and efficient scorer if they have any chance against elite competition.

He’s getting good looks, but the shots aren’t falling. Perhaps Fland can breakthrough Saturday in the third conference game of his career.
