CLEMSON — Winter weather is expected to hit Upstate South Carolina on Friday, but it has not altered Clemson basketball’s game on Saturday.

The Tigers (12-4, 4-1 ACC) will host conference rival Florida State (11-4, 2-2) on Saturday (2 p.m. ET, ACC Network) at Littlejohn Coliseum. There have been no changes despite the National Weather Service putting the area under a winter storm warning from Friday, 7 a.m., through Saturday, 7 a.m.

The National Weather Service expects heavy mixed precipitation with the area receiving between 1 and 3 inches of snow and sleet and ice building up around two-tenths of an inch. The low temperatures can make roads slick and dangerous, and the weather can knock out power for many residents in the Upstate.

Still, Clemson plans to play basketball Saturday on Alumni Day. Here’s what we know:

Will Clemson-FSU basketball game be canceled or postponed?

A Clemson athletics spokesperson told The Greenville News that Clemson vs. Florida State is still on for Saturday, and communication will be sent if any changes occur.

Clemson University released a statement Wednesday saying it will “monitor forecasted winter weather and its potential impacts on main campus and other University locations and added all Clemson facilities continue to operate on a normal schedule.”

A Florida State athletics spokesperson told The Greenville News that FSU basketball’s travel plans remain unchanged and expects the team to arrive Friday as opposed to earlier to avoid the weather.

Clemson looks to rebound Saturday after losing 74-64 to Louisville on Tuesday. The Tigers are tied for second in the ACC standings as they try to make the NCAA tournament in back-to-back seasons under coach Brad Brownell.
