Oregon’s on the road this week for its first extended trip as a member of the Big Ten, with men’s basketball conference games at Ohio State and at Penn State.

Up first are the Buckeyes at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. John Arena in Columbus. The Ducks (13-2, 2-2 Big Ten) will play the Nittany Lions at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College.

“I’m excited, honestly,” Oregon reserve guard Keeshawn Barthelemy said Monday morning. “My whole career I’ve been in the Pac-12, so going on a road trip to the East Coast, closer to home, is different, but I’m excited about it.”

Barthelemy, a Montreal native whose collegiate career began at Colorado, is one of three Ducks averaging in double-digit scoring at 10.0 points per game. Oregon’s 83-79 win against the then-No. 24 Terrapins was an impressive rebound for the Ducks, who were coming off a 109-77 loss to No. 15 Illinois last Thursday.

“That was a weird week,” Barthelemy said. “Obviously, the way we lost to Illinois wasn’t the way we want to play, at all, but the sun came up the next day and we got to practice and here comes Maryland, and Maryland’s not gonna come in here and feel sorry for us so we really had to dig in and it was a gut check for us and we got it done last night.”

The Ducks dropped from No. 9 to No. 17 in the USA Today coaches poll and from No. 9 to No. 15 in The…
