Jan. 5—SILVER CITY, N.M. — The UTPB men’s basketball team held off Western New Mexico in an 80-64 conference win Sunday on the road.
The Falcons were outscored 37-34 in the second half after building a 46-27 halftime lead.
UTPB improved to 10-3 overall, 6-1 in Lone Star Conference play while the Mustangs fell to 2-12, 1-6.
Dario Domingos led the Falcons with 30 points while Alex Matthews had 14 and Sharrod Taylor and Freddie Word each had 11.
Western New Mexico’s Carson Kelly had 20 points while James McCallum had 12 and Matthew Okoye had 10.
UTPB will next face Eastern New Mexico at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Falcon Dome.
