RCTC men wrap up non-conference slate with win over DI Central CC

Jan. 4—ROCHESTER — Sam Jennings had a game-high 28 points as the Rochester Community and Technical College men’s basketball team knocked off Division I junior college Central Community College (Neb.) 88-73 on Saturday at RCTC.

Jennings shot an efficient 9 of 12 from the field, including 6 of 8 from beyond the arc for a Yellowjackets squad that finished 10-for-16 from 3-point range.

Laden Nerison and Charlie Morning each had 15 points as well for RCTC, which led by eight at the half, before stretching the lead to 20 after the break. Jamison Lien added 11 to give RCTC four double digit scorers.

The RCTC defense was also strong, holding Central to under 46% from the field, while finishing with a 35-27 rebounding edge.

The Yellowjackets (11-4) open up conference play hosting No. 1 ranked Riverland at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
