The Nebraska Cornhuskers returned home following their Diamond Head Classic tournament win to host the No. 15 UCLA Bruins on Saturday afternoon. The Huskers kept the Bruins in check throughout the game defensively, despite efforts from the road team, allowing them to pull out the 66-58 upset win.
Nebraska landed just 17-of-52 from the floor, while the Bruins shot 22-of-57 from the floor. Though UCLA landed more shots, the Huskers made theirs count. Nebraska also delivered at the free throw line, going 25-of-29 at the line while the Bruins shot 10-of-13.
The Huskers also doubled UCLA in steals, finishing with 10. Sam Hoiberg led the team in steals with three. Hoiberg also scored seven points for Nebraska.
Brice Williams led the Huskers in scoring, dropping a team-high 16 points. Williams struck from the free throw line, going 11-of-12.
Andrew Morgan delivered 12 points, being 4-of-5 from the floor and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Rollie Worster scored 11 points in the win and surpassing 1,000 points in his career. Juwan Gary tallied up 10 points after going 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
This is Nebraska’s sixth straight win of the season and 20th straight win at home. The Huskers improve to 12-2 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. They hit the road to face the Iowa Hawkeyes on Tuesday night. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CT on Peacock.
