Streetsboro senior Naomi Benson and coach Carl Singer after Benson set the program’s career scoring mark in a 52-40 victory at Field.
It was Streetsboro’s night.
Naomi Benson became the program’s all-time leading scorer in leading the Rockets to a 52-40 victory at Field in a battle of girls basketball teams that were undefeated in Metro Athletic Conference play.
Maybe a half-hour down State Route 43, Jackson Gula knocked down the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Streetsboro boys basketball to a 47-45 victory over Chagrin Falls. Gula had a game-high 15 points while Jack Batten added two 3-pointers and 10 points for the Rockets (9-2).
Meanwhile, over at Field, Benson led Streetsboro with 19 points on an efficient 9 of 15 from the field, while also notching 11 rebounds. Three other players scored eight-plus points for the Rockets (8-1, 6-0): Carlee Bedford (nine), Sydney Abbuhl (eight) and Raegan Hendon (eight).
