After wins over Butler and at Xavier prior to a 10-day pause, No. 8 Marquette (11-2, 2-0 Big East) takes another early road test when it visits Providence at the Amica Mutual Pavilion.

The Friars’ home venue is usually one of the tougher places to play in the league, however they are coming off a 72-70 defeat to visiting St John’s on Dec. 20.

Providence was without Bryce Hopkins in the loss to the Red Storm. The star forward has played in only three games this season while continuing to recover from ACL surgery last season. He’s averaged nearly 18 points in limited time.

A win away from home would give the Golden Eagles a 3-0 Big East start for just the third time since joining the conference in 2005. MU plays three of its next four games at Fiserv Forum.
