LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball remained No. 7 in the updated version of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, after not playing a game during a holiday break.
The Jayhawks (9-2) are still viewed as a top 10 team in the nation. There wasn’t much of any movement in the top 10, as there was elsewhere in the top 25. Kansas’ next game is Tuesday at home against West Virginia.

The Jayhawks’ Big 12 Conference slate begins with that game against the Mountaineers. After that, they’ll be on the road on Jan. 5 against UCF. It’s not a collection of two teams that many would pick to win a national title, but still two who could challenge KU.
Kansas follows No. 3 Iowa State in the top 10, when it comes to Big 12 teams. They are joined in the top 25 by No. 14 Houston, No. 17 Cincinnati and No. 21 Baylor. The Big 12 is a talented league, but the Southeastern Conference looks like it has the edge at this point of the season.
