The Nebraska Cornhuskers faced off against Hawaii in the semi-final game of the Diamond Head Classic after dark on Monday. Though the Huskers finished under 70 points again, their defense held Hawai’i under 60 to get the win.
The Rainbow Warriors shot 20-of-47 from the floor, scoring 27 points in the first half and 28 in the second half. Nebraska meanwhile shot 26-of-55, dropping 40 points in the second half. Brice Williams and Juwan Gary led the charge, combining for 53 points in the game.
Williams delivered another career game, scoring 32 points. He shot 10-of-18 from the floor, landing four of his five shots from beyond the arc. He also finished a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line.
Gary racked up a season-high 21 points in the win, going 8-of-10 from the floor. He also shot 3-of-4 from three-point range and landed 2-of-2 from the free throw line.
The Huskers improve to 9-2 on the season and advance to the finals of the tournament. They will face Oregon State on Christmas day for the tournament championship. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (CST) on ESPN 2.
