Following a 10-1 non-conference record, the Cincinnati Bearcats men’s basketball team will go into their brief holiday break as the No. 17 team in the nation. The Associated Press poll and the coaches poll agreed.
UC is behind Iowa State, Kansas and Houston among Big 12 teams, but ahead of Baylor. Area teams of interest include Kentucky at No. 10 with Dayton, Ohio State and Indiana receiving votes.
The USA Today coaches poll also puts the Bearcats at No. 17. Locally, Kentucky is at No. 10 and the Dayton Flyers dropped out but received votes. Tennessee is the overall No. 1 in both polls.

Where do Cincinnati Bearcats rank in KenPom/NCAA NET?
After their 84-49 Sunday win over Grambling State, UC was No. 21 in the KenPom.com ratings and No. 18 in the NCAA NET tally. There are nine Big 12 teams among the NCAA NET Top 50.
Big 12 begins Monday, Dec. 30 for Cincinnati Bearcats
UC will be in Manhattan against 6-5 Kansas State to start their Big 12 menu.
Big 12 teams in order of AP ranking this week are No. 3 Iowa State, No. 7 Kansas, No. 15 Houston, UC at No. 17 and Baylor at No. 25. West Virginia, Arizona State and Texas Tech received AP votes.
USA Today’s coaches poll also has five Big 12 teams in the top 25 with Iowa State 3rd, Kansas 7th, Houston 11th, UC 17th and Baylor 23rd. Texas Tech and West Virginia received votes.
