ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Mizzou had their 10-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Illinois in an 80-77 loss in the Braggin’ Rights showdown on Sunday.
The first half was tightly contested throughout, with the Fighting Illini taking a 37-32 lead into halftime.

Illinois led for the majority of the second half, building a 67-57 lead with under seven minutes remaining after reeling off a 10-2 run.
Mizzou fought their way back, responding immediately with a 11-0 run to take the their first lead of the half with just over four minutes remaining after a Trent Pierce layup.
A pair of free throws from Kylan Boswell gave Illinois a 77-75 lead with 56 seconds. He contributed 16 points and five assists. Mizzou tied the game the very next possession with free throws from Jacob Crews.
Freshman forward Kasparas Jakucionis knocked down a fadeaway jumper over Mark Mitchell with 29.4 seconds, giving Illinois a 79-77 lead. Jakucionis led all scorers with 21 points.
Mizzou had a chance to tie the game on their last possession but a three-point attempt from Crews hit the back iron, dropping Mizzou to 10-2.

Mitchell and Perkins led Mizzou with 18 points apiece. Both also had six rebounds and Perkins had three steals. Piper alum Tamar Bates added 17 points.
The Tigers host Alabama State next Monday at 6:30 p.m. before they begin conference play against LSU on Jan. 4.
