Indiana women’s basketball guard Sydney Parrish returns to lineup from injury

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana women’s basketball guard Sydney Parrish was back in the starting lineup on Sunday in her team’s final non-conference game of the season against Oakland.

Parrish had missed five straight games with a knee injury she suffered on the Hoosiers’ trip to the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. The fifth-year senior is averaging 9.3 points and 6.3 rebounds this season.

Indiana coach Teri Moren said she expected Parrish back in the near future after IU’s win 95-61 win over Bellarmine on Dec. 15.

“We talked a little bit about maybe playing some minutes,” Moren said. “But we just felt like − she’s been pleased with how the process has been for her and feels really comfortable with the process. So she and (IU’s athletic trainer) and our doctors just felt like maybe giving her another week just to feel more comfortable.”

Parrish, who missed time last season with an ankle injury, was wearing a brace on her left knee for the game. The rest of IU’s starting lineup remained the same around Parrish with Chloe Moore McNeil, Shay Ciezki, Lilly Meister and Yarden Garzon.
