LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball jumped up a couple of spots in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, after a win at home against NC State.

The now-No. 8 Jayhawks (8-2) were 10th in the rankings coming into this last week. Now head coach Bill Self’s squad is ranked No. 8. Looking ahead, KU faces Brown on Sunday at home in its scheduled non-conference game.

Kansas will certainly be heavily favored, but it doesn’t make it any less important. It will be KU’s final tuneup for Big 12 Conference play. The league slate begins for KU on Dec. 31 at home against West Virginia.

The Big 12 also has No. 3 Iowa State in the top 10 of this week’s poll. Elsewhere in the top 25 are No. 12 Houston and No. 20 Cincinnati. This season Kansas is set to face Iowa State and Houston both home and away, and Cincinnati on the road.
