Steve Lutz wasn’t yet a full minute into his postgame news conference and he’d already rattled off a laundry list of shortcomings in his Oklahoma State basketball team’s 80-65 loss to No. 13 Oklahoma on Saturday night at the Paycom Center.

Poor effort, bad defense, too many turnovers, too few made shots.

“I don’t know what else I can really tell you,” Lutz said before adding a few more issues to the list.

The Cowboys (6-3) provided little resistance in the first 20 minutes, which seemed to bother Lutz most of all.

“It’s really hard to get your defense set when you don’t score offensively,” he said, referencing the Pokes’ 7 of 27 shooting effort in the first half. “They did a great job in transition. They scored and they got back and got their defense set. Then they turned us over 11 times in the first half.

“You can’t spot a good team 20 points and expect to win the basketball…
