How Auburn’s impressive win over Richmond affects its KenPom ranking

Auburn basketball is back on track following its 98-54 blowout win over the Richmond Spiders on Sunday afternoon at Neville Arena.

Four of Auburn’s starters, including two bench players, recorded double-digit scoring games. Myles Kelly and Tahaad Pettiford continue to make a strong impression within Auburn’s roster and fanbase by logging 15-point efforts while Chad Baker-Mazara and Jakhi Howard scored 13 in the victory. Auburn ended the game on a 12-1 run and scored the game’s final 10 points over the remaining 5:09 in the 4th quarter.

Auburn’s defense was also a thorn in Richmond’s side by forcing the Spiders to shoot just 27% from the floor and winning the rebound battle, 49-31.

Auburn begins the week as the No. 1 team in the KenPom following a 1-1 week. Auburn has a comfortable lead over No. 2 Tennessee in adjusted efficiency margin (+32.12 to +30.99), and is one of five SEC teams in KenPom’s top 10 to start the week.
