Florida basketball moved up six spots to No. 7 in this week’s USA Today Men’s College Basketball Top 25.
It’s the first top 10 national ranking for the Florida Gators since UF was the preseason No. 6 to start off the 2019-20.
At 9-0 to begin year three under head coach Todd Golden, Florida is off to its best start since starting the 2005-06 season 17-0. The Gators are coming off an 87-69 win over Virginia last week in the ACC-SEC Challenge. Senior point guard Walter Clayton Jr. helped lead UF to the win over UVA with 27 points and 4 assists.
Florida also is ranked at No. 9 in this week’s AP Top 25 and No. 7 in the NCAA Net rankings, which helps determine NCAA Tournament seeding and takes account records compared to strength of schedule.
No. 7 Florida will next play Arizona State (8-1) on Saturday at the Holiday Hoopsgiving at State Farm Arena in Atlanta (3:30 p.m., SEC Network).
