The UConn men’s basketball team returns to campus on Wednesday night to meet Baylor in the Big East-Big 12 Battle. The Huskies (5-3) defeated Maryland-Eastern Shore, 99-45, Saturday at the XL Center in Hartford.
Liam McNeeley and Jaylin Stewart led a balanced offensive attack with 16 points apiece, two of six Huskies to score in double-figures. Both Jayden Ross and Tarris Reed Jr. recorded double-doubles as reserves in the contest – the first UConn teammates to do so since 2022.
No. 25 UConn hosts No. 15 Baylor for the second time in program history. The Huskies’ lone meeting with the Bears came on Dec. 28, 1965 – a 96-88 win as part of a two-game Texas swing early in the 1965-66 season.
The matchup features two of the last three programs to win a national title, as the Bears won in 2021 with the Huskies taking the 2023 and 2024 championships.
Baylor enters Wednesday’s contest with a 5-2 overall record. Big man Norchad Omier, whom the Huskies faced in the 2023 Final Four with Miami, leads Baylor with 15.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game while shooting 59.5 percent from the floor.
