Texas A&M guard Wade Taylor IV reacts to a call during Wednesday night’s win over Creighton at the Players Era Festival tournament in Las Vegas. Taylor followed that up with a season-high 24 points Saturday night in a 81-77 win over Rutgers.

Texas A&M Aggies men’s basketball guard Wade Taylor IV scored a season-high 24 points, including 16 in the second half to help the No. 20 Aggies rally past Rutgers 81-77 on Saturday in the fifth-place game of the Players Era Festival tournament in Las Vegas.

Taylor shot 7 of 14 from the field in the second half and hit all eight of his free throw attempts and also dished out a game-high five assists for A&M (6-2). In his last three games, Taylor has scored 15 against Oregon, 18 against Creighton and 24 against Rutgers.

Taylor’s 3-point shot with 8:21 remaining helped bring the Aggies back from what had been a 9-point deficit and Manny Obaseki’s fast-break dunk gave A&M the lead for good; the Scarlet Knights couldn’t manage any points in the final three minutes of the game.

Henry Coleman III, Solomon Washington and Obaseki each finished with 11 points. Washington also had four blocked shots. The Aggies made 31 free-throw attempts.

Three players combined to score 62 of Rutgers’ 77 points: Ace Bailey’ 24, Jeremiah Williams’ 20 and Dylan Harper’s 18. No other Scarlet Knight finished with more than 8 points.

Up next for the basketball team is a matchup on Tuesday against Wake Forest (7-2) at Reed Arena in College Station.
