“We’re taking it one game at a time, one day at a time. We’re just going to continue to grow, continue to get better,” Herd Men’s Basketball Head Coach Corny Jackson said. “It takes what it takes. That’s one of our things. There’s no cutting corners. There’s nowhere to hide. It takes what it takes to keep building, to keep getting better.”

Mikal Dawson tallied a career-high 28 points shooting 8-for-17 from the field, including 6-for-13 from three-point range, and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.

Nate Martin followed with 14 points and a game-high eight rebounds as Ryan Nutter followed with 12 points and five rebounds.

MU trailed for the majority of the first half until Dawson knocked down a trio of threes in a span of 1:39 to take a 27-22 lead with 5:17 remaining in the first half. WKU comeback to get back on top, but Dawson knocked another pair of triples in the final 40 seconds to give The Herd a 40-36 lead at the break.

The Hilltoppers offense found a spark in the second half. The home side made 69.6 (16-for-23) percent of their shots in the final 20 minutes. Both teams had a run of at least 12 points in the second half.
