Oregon guard TJ Bamba pressed toward the basket as the Oregon State Beavers hosted the Oregon Ducks on Nov. 21 at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis.

The Oregon men’s basketball team is off to its best start in 11 years and on its longest winning streak in four seasons.

The Ducks will have to pull off another upset Saturday to keep both streaks alive.

Oregon will play No. 9 Alabama at 6:30 p.m. in the championship game of the Players Era Festival at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The Ducks (7-0) defeated No. 20 Texas A&M (80-70) on Tuesday and San Diego State (78-68) on Wednesday to reach their showdown with the Crimson Tide (6-1), whose wins in Las Vegas have come against Rutgers (95-90) and No. 7 Houston (85-80). Their only loss of this season came against No. 12 Purdue, 87-78, on Nov. 15.

“I like the direction we’re going,” Oregon coach Dana Altman said after the win against the Aztecs. “We’ve got a lot of depth. We’ve got some young guys that can fill in and give us some more minutes. So it’s only November, but I like the direction we’re headed.”

The Ducks are off to their best start since opening the 2013-14 season at 13-0. Their seven straights wins is their best stretch since winning eight straight during an 8-1 start to the 2020-21 season.

Oregon guard TJ Bamba has led the Ducks in Las Vegas with back-to-back, season-high scoring performances. Bamba scored 18 against Texas A&M and then 22 against San Diego State. The transfer from Villanova also is 14 of 19 from the free-throw line in his last two games.
